Larry L. Bye

Larry L. Bye is a Senior Fellow in the Health Care department at NORC at the University of Chicago.

Bye has more than 30 years of experience designing and evaluating social marketing campaigns and conducting policy and behavioral research. He is also a specialist in survey methods and program evaluation.

Bye is involved in programs and campaigns promoting obesity prevention, mental illness stigma reduction and health care access, quality and equity. He is a veteran of campaigns on more than a dozen other issues including HIV/AIDS prevention, teen pregnancy prevention, cancer early detection, violence prevention, family planning, and tobacco control.

Prior to joining NORC, Bye served as a Vice President/Senior Research Director of Field Research Corporation where he led Field’s Social Marketing /Health Promotion Practice Group. Previously he successfully founded and operated three research and consulting businesses--Communication Sciences Group, Survey Methods Group and Research and Decisions Corporation.

Bye is a sought after public speaker and frequently presents on his work. He has presented at the Innovations in Social Marketing Conference, National Conference on Health Communication, Marketing and Media, Joint Statistical Meetings as well as annual conferences of the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco and the Society for Nutrition Education. He work has been published in the American Journal of Public Health, Health Affairs, Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes, and Social Marketing Quarterly. 

Larry Bye served as president of the American Social Marketing Association from 2003-2004 and is a member of the American Public Health Association, American Association for Public Opinion Research and the American Marketing Association.
