Using research to improve the health and well-being of rural Americans.

As the source of much of our food, drinking water, and energy production—and home to one in five Americans—healthy rural communities benefit us all. That’s why NORC has prioritized studying the health needs and challenges of rural America since 1952. And there is no better evidence of that commitment than our founding of the Walsh Center for Rural Health Analysis, which focuses exclusively on access to and quality of health care, aging, economic development, Medicare, telehealth, tribal and veterans’ health, health equity, and other issues affecting rural communities.
